Sasha's Protective Kiddie Products
The creator and current CEO of Sasha's Kiddie Products, Don Fetner, founded his company in an interesting way. He was sitting by the swimming pool of his apartment building one day during the summer when he happened to observe a mother and baby nearby. The baby was perched inside a stroller, and was subjected to a number of irritants: the sun, the wind, a series of insects. The mother tried covering her baby with a blanket, but obviously that increased the temperature for the poor child, and made it impossible to see the mother, and so the baby started crying.
This incident led Fetner on a kind of quest: to find a transparent product that protected babies in strollers from sunlight, bugs and other hazards of the great outdoors. But Fetner says that the only products he could find after conducting his research into the matter were materials that blocked babies' field of vision, and so he set out to create a mesh screen that would offer this kind of see-through protection. He searched and eventually found just the material he was looking for, and after chemically modifying it to make sure it could block UVA and UVB rays from the sun, and also adjusting it so it could be easily attached to strollers, Fetner decided to trademark this material as "Sasha's Sun, Wind and Insect Protectors." These protectors, which also help to insulate strollers when it's cold outside, now come in more than 35 different models, fitting nearly every stroller in existence, including all major brands. They are made in the USA and sold throughout the United States and Canada.
Sasha's story doesn't end there, however. The company's product line has diversified, and they now sell an array of storage bags, travel bags and tote bags you can attach to your stroller for extra storage room and extra convenience. They also offer a series of stroller covers for rain and wind protection, as well as various covers to provide insulation during cold winter months.
