The Joys of the Tandem Stroller
Let's say you have two babies or young children you need to transport together in the same stroller. The trouble is, you have to get in and out of narrow passageways or doorways, so the traditional double stroller is too wide for your needs. What are you to do? The answer to this dilemma is the tandem stroller.

A tandem stroller is similar to a double stroller, but your children will be seated one in front of the other rather than side by side, which makes this kind of stroller much narrower than the double stroller. And if you're afraid that the child riding in the back won't have much of a view, you can even get such a stroller with an elevated back seat. This "stadium seating" allows both children to see what's up ahead. It also makes access to the child in the back much easier for the parent.
You might be so captivated by a tandem stroller when you first see one in a store that you're tempted to buy it on impulse. But you should still compare these strollers to one another to make sure you find the best product possible. Some of these strollers come loaded with extras: snack trays so your kids can eat on the go, extra storage compartments and extra padding, seats that recline at a number of angles. (Sometimes these strollers even have seats that can be turned 360 degrees; if your baby is fussy while you're on an errand you can turn him or her around so you can offer comfort.) A separate weather shield or canopy for each child might be desirable as well. In fact, you might be well-suited making a list of all the goodies you want your stroller to include so you can find just the right design. Further, some of these strollers can be tricky to fold as they require you to remove one or both of the seats; if you're going to be folding and unfolding the stroller every day, you'll want to find one that folds easily and quickly. Much more important, of course, is that you buy the sturdiest stroller you can find: many experts believe the three-wheeled tandem stroller is steadier than the four-wheeled variety.
Last, if you have a third baby on the way, fear not: you can even get strollers with three seats, all arranged in stadium-style seating!
